| In
the year 1913 John Manning Van Heusen anticipated a revolution in male
dressing. From humble beginnings, he strived to constantly innovate and
deliver the best possible shirt. By the year 1917, the breakthrough was
achieved. Developing a machine that weaves fabric into a curved shape,
the first one-piece semi-stiff collar was conceived. Clearly an innovation
so large, that it was set to change the way a shirt was seen and worn.
Post getting a patent for the same in 1919, the shirt brought about a stampede
across stores in New York in the year 1921 and changed people's wardrobes
forever.
Worldwide,
Van Heusen is the world's largest selling dress shirt and also encompasses,
other products like trousers, suits, knits, women's wear and accessories.
For India, the Middle East and SAARC countries Van Heusen is licensed to
Madura Garments, a division of Indian Rayon and Industries Ltd. an A V
Birla Group Company.
Van
Heusen in India defines work wear. Giving an unmatched inner confidence
and a feeling of power, it has ruled corporate offices across the country
for the last 13 years. Its philosophy of providing the classic shirt, impeccable
and contemporary in design and styling has ensured that it constantly rediscovers
the boundaries of work wear through progressive designs and product innovations.
Building
on this equity we have gone on to launch contemporary formal merchandise,
be it in colour, design or fabric. One of the successful launches in the
recent past is Informals, the out-of-office work wear. This range has been
created keeping in mind the fact that work is no more constrained to the
four walls of office
The
other successful launch, which will change the face of work wear in India,
is the launch of the IQ range from Van Heusen. The IQ range certainly does
take work wear to a new level - with garments like the Bestwhite shirt,
which optically reflects light to stay whiter than white, IQ trousers with
never before features like Flexi-Waist, Bi-Stretch and Zero-Wrinkle. Then
there are Oxyrich shirts that release fatigue busting oxygen ions when
worn and IQ Jackets that fight body odour, to name a few.
Besides
this a run-away success is the international wardrobe range from Worldwear,
a range of ultra formal shirts, trousers, suits and ties.
Today
Van Heusen also encompasses, top-of-the line suits, knits, inner wear,
winter wear and accessories like ties, leather belt, wallets, keychains
and socks. It will also be introducing leather bags and umbrellas to complete
the corporate executive's ensemble.
Carrying
the spirit forward, Van Heusen has tied up with CNBC to enter Business
schools across the country and identify the business managers of tomorrow.
