The hotel enjoys panoramic views of the temple city of Madurai and the Kodai hills. Madurai, an ancient temple city, resonates sanctity, culture and tradition. Madurai, shaped like a lotus, is tucked snugly in the recesses of Tamil Nadu and located on the banks of the sacred Vaigai River. It is the destination of thousands of pilgrims who come to pay homage at the revered Meenakshi Temple, famed for its 1000 pillar hall. The hotel can arrange a traditional darshan at the Meenakshi Temple. Taj Garden Retreat is 15 kms, a 20 minutes drive, from the airport; 6 km, a 15 minute drive from the railway station. The Meenakshi Temple and city centre are a 15 minute drive away.

The lower hillsides have been developed as a lush green belt zone with sustainable forest trees teeming with bird-life including peacocks.
