Ganesh, also known as Ganapati or Vinayaka is the son of Shiva and Parvati and is the first deity to be worshipped during any  ritual as he's considered the remover of obstacles, which also gives him another epithet, VIGHNESHWAR or Lord of obstacles. Curiously enough, despite his being apparently the heaviest Hindu deity his vehicle is a tiny mouse which is symbolically explained as his covering the entire span of the vertebra beings. He is also called the Lord of Wisdom.
