Mode Of Action : Piper longum effectively reduced passive cutaneous anaphylaxis  and protected against antigen-induced bronchospasm. Protection of mast cells was observed. Piplartine showed inhibition of ciliary movements of esophagus. Piperine decreased the rate and amplitude of respiration and showed non-specific blockade of acetylcholine, histamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine.
